The
Golden
Party
A Golden Future.
Let it be clear: You do not need to vote for everyone in this collective group just because you would like to vote for one of us.
But, by supporting everyone in the Golden Party, you’re voting for a group of students committed to building a bright, golden future for USC Gould. Our mutual goals articulated in our common platform and the commitments we outline in our mission statement are the first step in creating a more communicative, transparent student board association that is held accountable for advancing the interest of the student body as a whole.
Meet the Golden Party
-
Amir Freeman - President
Amir is a first-gen law student from Los Angeles. During college, Amir developed a passion for student government through his work on student court. Now, he is committed to bringing that experience to Gould by working with the other members of SBA to create an inclusive, fun experience for the rising 2Ls.
In his spare time, you can find Amir hanging out at a brewery playing card games with friends, hiking, or gaming.
-
Natalie Bastawros - Vice President
Natalie is passionate about making Gould a space where everyone feels welcome and connected. With her extensive background in event planning and leadership, she is committed to listening to her peers and organizing events that are tailored to their hopes and goals for the school year. She intends to collaborate with Gould’s various affinity groups to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout her term as 2L Vice President.
-
Alivia DuQuet - SBA Treasurer
Alivia is a first-gen from Metro Detroit, Michigan. Growing up in the Midwest, she learned how to be frugal and stretch a dollar as far as possible. As a seasoned campaign fundraiser, she gained substantive experience maintaining financial records, conducting regular audits, and ensuring compliance with federal law. Alivia’s personal background and experiences have equipped her with the insight to succeed as SBA Treasurer.
-
Gabriela "Gabby" D'Souza - GSG Senator
Gabby, a long-time advocate, has focused on issues affecting her & her peers, food waste, mental health, and sustainable business practices. Most recently, Gabby led a team at SurveyMonkey while also volunteering as a Crisis Line Counselor and working with county officials on crisis communication policies for police. In college, Gabby was in student government for three years where she managed by-law compliance with UCSB’s Green Bill and partnered with county officials to bring a composting program to local businesses.
-
Graham "Smitty" Smith - SBA Academic Affairs Chair
Graham “Smitty” Smith is a first-gen law student. As a 1L representative for the K-O section, Graham learned the importance of a strong student voice in faculty and administration meetings. Graham also learned the tactics and strategies that ensure student voices are heard, understood, and acted upon. Graham would be honored to serve as the Academic Affairs Chair for the Student Bar Association.
-
Elizabeth Lee - SBA Alumni Relations Chair
Elizabeth Lee is a rising 2L at USC Gould School of Law. She born and raised in the Pasadena area but currently lives in Los Angeles. For undergrad, Elizabeth went to UC Berkeley where she majored in Sociology and minored in Asian American Diaspora Studies. During her first-year at Gould, Elizabeth was a 1L representative for the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Society (IPTLS), the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA), and the Music Law Society. She is currently interested in practicing corporate law in the future. In her free time, Elizabeth likes to go to concerts, listen to live music, discover new bars, and take spontaneous day trips! She also loves hiking and working out whenever I get the chance. This summer, Elizabeth hopes to learn how to off-road and to go on camping trips with friends. She look forward to seeing everyone around on campus!
-
Noah Reid - Social Chair
Noah has extensive experience in organizing and running social events for a variety of different communities. His easy going nature, open mind, and enthusiasm will allow him to not only come up with engaging events that encourage all law students to participate but will also allow him to easily incorporate new ideas and suggestions that will benefit the whole community.
-
Kelsey Leck - Social Chair
One of the main reasons why Kelsey chose and loves Gould is its spirited Trojan community! She truly believes that having a supportive, inclusive, and lively community is one of the most important aspects of life, and she would love to help that sense of community continue to thrive here. Every student at Gould is interesting, and Kelsey wants to plan events that connect students with each other and make our community an even friendlier place. Here’s a hypothetical (since we’re all law students who love them so much ): Student A sits across the classroom from Student B, and they have never personally spoken, since they sit on opposite sides of the room and never interact. They could be the best of friends, but instead they go through their three years of law school never actually meeting outside of the classroom. As a Social Chair, Kelsey would focus on events to bring students together and hopefully avoid that scenario.
-
Ava Luthin - Community Service Chair
As SBA Community Service Char, Ava Luthin’s goals are to (1) foster inclusivity and collaboration among public interest-focused clubs on campus, (2) plan and execute two large-scale service events on campus, and (3) reframe Gould’s relationship with the local LA community. Having spent their entire undergraduate time at USC working with nonprofits and community organizers around campus, Ava believes strongly in USC students’ duty to engage productively and thoughtfully with the local South LA community. Ava hopes to bring their experience with local outreach and activism to SBA next year!
-
Enzo Bak - SBA Faculty Selection Chair
As someone with previous experience on SBA, Enzo would be able to bring in what he has seen and learned this past year to re-vitalize the faculty selection process by effectively and swiftly communicating with the entire student body in order to increase student participation in the process. Enzo is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion and will actively pursue that in his role as Faculty Selection Chair.
-
Lauren Torian - Diversity Chair
Lauren is a rising 2L at Gould and a long-time advocate for social justice and cultural competence. Alongside her experience in leadership and event planning, she plans to maximize access to educational resources promoting communal solidarity as well as enjoyable opportunities to exercise that solidarity.
